Divorce mediation for Loudoun County families
From Ashburn and Sterling to Leesburg, Purcellville, and South Riding, Loudoun families are busy — long commutes, packed activity calendars, and big financial commitments. Mediation gives you a structured, private way to make decisions together instead of leaving them to a contested court process.

Decisions we can work through together
Loudoun is one of the fastest-growing parts of Virginia, and many households here bought newer homes and built careers in tech, government contracting, and aviation. Those details shape a fair agreement.
Parenting plans
Schedules built around the Loudoun County Public Schools calendar, travel teams, and the realities of a commute to Dulles, Reston, or DC.
The house & the HOA
Whether to sell, refinance, or delay a sale — and who handles the mortgage, the HOA, and repairs in the meantime.
Equity & stock compensation
RSUs, stock options, and bonuses are common for Loudoun tech employees. We identify them and talk through how to treat them; financial professionals can help with valuation.
Child & spousal support
Conversations grounded in actual budgets and informed by the Virginia child support guidelines.
Retirement & savings
401(k)s, IRAs, pensions, and college savings accounts, laid out side by side.
Relocation questions
What happens if one parent wants to move further west, out of state, or closer to work.
Mediation alongside the courts in Leesburg
Divorces in Loudoun are handled by the Loudoun County Circuit Court, located at the courthouse complex in historic downtown Leesburg, and custody and support matters outside a divorce generally go to the Loudoun County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court. Mediation is separate from the court process: it’s a private space where you can settle what you’re able to, so fewer decisions are left for a judge.
Geography matters here. A parent in Purcellville and a parent in Sterling may be 40 minutes apart on Route 7. We talk honestly about drive times, exchange points, and what a schedule will feel like for the kids on a school night.
I’m based in Fairfax County and meet Loudoun clients in person in Northern Virginia or by secure video. Many couples choose video so neither of them has to fight Route 28 traffic after work.

Why work with Sara
I’m a Northern Virginia mom of two boys who spends plenty of time on youth sports sidelines, so I know how much a family’s week depends on logistics. I bring that practical view to every parenting conversation.
Professionally, I bring close to two decades of experience organizing complex, multi-stakeholder work in federal consulting and legal operations. In the room, I’m neutral — my job is a fair process, not a particular outcome.
- J.D., University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law; George Mason University alum
- Close to two decades in federal consulting, legal operations, and organizational strategy
- Mediation training: 40-hour basic mediation, 24-hour family mediation, and a 4-hour Virginia Judicial System orientation
- Neutral by design: I don’t practice law, give legal advice, or represent either side
Loudoun County divorce mediation questions
Do you meet in person in Loudoun County?
I meet in person in Northern Virginia and by secure video. Let me know during the consultation what location works best, and we’ll find a convenient option.
How do you handle stock options or RSUs?
We make a full list of compensation and talk through options for each item. For valuation or tax effects, I’ll encourage you to involve a financial professional, and your attorneys can advise on the rest.
What does mediation cost compared to going to court?
My pricing is published: packages from $1,200 and hourly at $300, shared by both of you. I don’t publish comparisons to litigation costs because every case is different.
Is mediation right if there’s been abuse?
Every family matter begins with a confidential screening. Where there is domestic violence, coercion, or a serious safety concern, mediation may not be appropriate, and I’ll talk with you about other resources.
Who writes the final agreement?
I write up the terms you reach in a Memorandum of Understanding. Each of you then has your own attorney review it, and they can turn it into a final agreement or court filing.
