Online mediation, wherever you are in Virginia
You don’t need to be in Northern Virginia to work with me. From Richmond and Charlottesville to Hampton Roads, Roanoke, and the Shenandoah Valley, I mediate family, elder care, workplace, and business matters by secure video — with the same structure and care as an in-person session.

What I mediate online
Nearly every type of mediation I offer works well by video. Many clients prefer it.
Divorce & separation
Parenting, support, and property conversations from your own home, without sharing a waiting room.
Parenting plans
Schedule updates and co-parenting check-ins that fit around school and work.
Elder care
Family meetings that include siblings across Virginia or other states, and the older adult from their own living room.
Workplace disputes
Sessions for hybrid and remote teams that don’t require anyone to come into the office.
Business partnerships
Partners in different cities can meet without travel, with documents shared on screen.
Prenuptial conversations
Couples planning a wedding can work through terms on their own schedule.
Private rooms, shared screens, real progress
Sessions take place on a secure video platform. I can move each party into a private breakout room at any time, which recreates the separate-caucus rooms of an in-person mediation and can be especially helpful when tensions are high. I can share a calendar, a budget, or a draft agreement on screen so everyone is looking at the same thing.
Sessions aren’t recorded. Before we begin, I’ll ask each participant to join from a private space where they won’t be overheard, and I’ll talk with you about anything else that would help you feel comfortable — including whether a support person should be nearby.
Virtual mediation also makes hybrid arrangements easy: some participants can meet in person in Northern Virginia while others join by video. And for people outside Virginia, I offer virtual mediation nationwide.

Why work with Sara
Much of my career in federal consulting and technology implementation was spent running complex conversations across distributed teams. I know how to keep a video session organized, make sure quieter voices are heard, and use the tools so they help rather than distract.
Online or in person, I’m neutral. I don’t give legal advice or take sides; I help you reach your own agreement.
- J.D., University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law; George Mason University alum
- Close to two decades in federal consulting, legal operations, and organizational strategy
- Mediation training: 40-hour basic mediation, 24-hour family mediation, and a 4-hour Virginia Judicial System orientation
- Neutral by design: I don’t practice law, give legal advice, or represent either side
Online mediation questions
Is online mediation as effective as in person?
For many people, yes. It removes travel and scheduling barriers, and breakout rooms make private conversations easy. During the consultation, we’ll talk about whether video is the right fit for your situation.
Do I need special software?
No. You’ll need a computer or tablet with a camera and microphone, a reliable internet connection, and a private space. I’ll send instructions and do a quick tech check first.
Can we mediate if we live in different states?
Yes. I offer virtual mediation nationwide. If your matter involves another state’s rules, I’ll encourage each party to consult an attorney licensed there.
Is online mediation confidential?
Generally, yes. Sessions aren’t recorded, and the same confidentiality principles apply as in person, with limited exceptions under Virginia law that I explain at the start.
How do we sign the agreement?
I send the written summary electronically. Each party reviews it with their own attorney, who can advise on how to finalize it.
